My Story
I have worked as a physical therapist for over 17 years, mostly is large corporate health organizations. My focus has been on outpatient orthopedics, which is a fancy way of saying that my job has been to help anyone with pain, injury or surgery get back to doing what they love.
Along the way I have had amazing mentorship, earned a bunch of additional credentials, taught for several physical therapy schools, taught continuing education courses, mentored other PT and helped people of all walks of life.
But working in healthcare can be very frustrating.
I work in a reactive system, where my role is to take you from injured to less injured.
I don’t get to use what I’ve learned to help you prevent injury or you go from less injured to thriving.
I have been frustrated with the options patients have after leaving physical therapy because the health and fitness landscape is a mess.
It’s hard to find resources that don’t confuse health and performance.
It’s hard to find resources that provide high quality, science based information.
It’s hard to find resources that you don’t need a degree in biology, physiology, or healthcare to understand.
I’ve been told by many of my patients that I’m good at explaining things in ways that are easy to understand.
So I decided to start making the resources I wished were available for you.
Right now it is a side-project that I can only dedicate a few hours per week to.
But at some point I hope to make it my full time career focus.
I Write About 5 Topics to Help You Do More of What You Love, Now and For Decades to Come
1. Exercises
I have spent the past 17 years prescribing exercises for all kinds of problems.
I want to teach you my favorites.
Not just how to do them, but also when to use them, how to use them, where they fit in the spectrum of similar exercises, and when you shouldn’t use them.
Ultimately my goal is to create a library of exercises for injury rehab, prehab, fitness, balance, mobility, and longevity.
2. Body 101
I have spent a lot of time learning how the body works.
I have also spent a lot of time figuring out ways to use stories, metaphors and analogies to help people like you understand.
The more you know about how your body works, the easier it will be to make decisions that will be good for you now and into the future.
3. Longevity
There is a whole science of longevity that is emerging.
It’s not just about how to live as long as possible.
It’s also about making sure that the quality of your life is equal to the length of your life.
Unfortunately this information can be overwhelming. There is so much new information coming out.
Trying to address all of the difference pillars of health and longevity without knowing how to prioritize them can make staying healthy feel like a full time job.
My job is to take all of this information and condense it into actionable step that actually fit into your life.
4. Health Hacks
There’s a lot more to taking care of your body than just exercise.
There are a whole host of protocols that you can try that may benefit you. I know many have benefited me.
Things like sleep strategies, breathwork, heat exposure, cold exposure and more.
5. Mindset
Knowing what you should do is only half of the equation.
It turns out that we are far more complicated than that.
Knowing what to do is the easy part.
Doing it consistently enough, for long enough to make a change is much harder.
That’s where mindset comes in.
How you think about things can make a huge change in the actions that you take.
